So the end of the semester has come. Its very strange to know that I’ve done so many projects in such a short amount of time. I’ve been saying it for a long time, but I think it still holds true. It is so hard to draw what you see versus what you know. And I think it has to do with removing yourself from seeing a three-dimensional object to seeing a range of values and hues. This course definitely helped me with that, especially in the portrait. In the long rung, I’ve always imagined being able to draw form memory, but its apparent that you need to be able to draw from representation before being able to draw from memory. Not only have i learned how to draw what I see, but techniques like dry on dry mounting, wet on dry mounting, using vine charcoal, thinking conceptually about words, and so many others. I highly recommend taking this art class because of its change in perception it forces you to have. Plus I have about 10 more phrases I want tattooed on my body because of it.
